Off to do and overnight trip on Doubtful Sound. Wanted to do this on my last trip, but had just finished a three day walk and a bed and a rest (coffee and cake really!) looked the better option at the time! I was off with Deep Cove Adventures who run a small motor cruiser in the Sound for 6 people. Met up with Bill and Melissa, from New York, first. They were on their honeymoon and were gorgeous - we got on straight away. The first leg was to cross Lake Manapouri in one of the bigger ferries then meet Chris, our host, and the other guests at the other side. Steve, Pam and Stephanie were all from California and Steve and Pam were on holiday visiting Steph their daughter who had been at Uni in NZ for a year. So that's everyone! We headed up over Wilmot Pass, literally a road from nowhere to nowhere. It was one of the most expensive roads in the country and links Lake Manapouri to Doubtful Sound, primarily to service an underground power station, but helps tourists like us have a fabulous trip. so i was walking one day out into the streets, and all of a sudden, a gorilla comes out and tries to steal my wallet. So then i said "sir, could you please not, i need my money for important errands i must run". the gorilla was quick to apologize, but then said "...but i must warn you fair sir, there is an even eviler person after you". to this gorilla i answered "do not worry, for i am quite the cautious fellow" and with that, the gorilla tipped his hat and left. Yet i wondered "who could evil person be who is after I? did i do him wrong in the past and just not remember?" all these questions i asked my self, but could not answer them, so i continued. as i kept on walking, i was ambushed by a pack of flying chinchillas, about 12 i believe. i didn't believe them to be much of a problem, and noticed they have taken off my socks without removing my shoes. i ran after them and yelled out "come back you damn chinchillas and return my socks to me!". then the chinchillas stopped, which was quite unexpected because any regular person would have kept on running. they returned my socks to me and left to the closest burger king to eat a triple whooper, and that was the end of them. fast forwarding through the journey, i also met a turtle, an old man, and what appeared to be a cross between a snail, a shark, and a zebra, yeah, all three of those. as i near the end of my journey, i finaly meet this evil person, who is my friend asking me to let him borrow five bucks. the end (did you ...
