Entry from: Airlie Beach, Australia Entry Title: "Life on the ocean wave" Entry: "G'day from down under to all you good sheilas and blokes! Hope all is well in pomme land! Well here we are in Australia, the half way point of our trip which is all a bit scarey indeed. We arrived into Sydney airport just about 2 weeks ago now where Dave's boots were promptly confiscated by Pest Control and only returned after a thorough power hosing - perhaps not the best introduction to Australia for us or the other poor people on our flight who had to suffer the smell of Dave's sweaty feet - thankfully no holes in the socks though!! We then met up with Dave's family, who had travelled out for a 2 week holiday, before hopping on a flight up to Cairns to start our 5 week travels down the east coast of Oz. We had a relaxing few days in Cairns generally enjoying the fabulous coast and beautiful weather. Thanks to the loan of Dave's parent's hire car we also spent a day in Mareeba wetlands, part of the Atherton Tableland, where we were treated to our first sight of a wild young kangaroo. Without a doubt however the main event was the day we spent out snorkling the Great Barrier Reef, which was just fantastic.
